Happy Tails on Trails is a local business which is licensed to offer its pet services in North and West Vancouver, and is both bonded and insured for your peace of mind.
Its owner, Norma Morgan, is a long-time resident of North Vancouver and, as a certified dog trainer, she has been providing her services to pet owners across the North Shore for over 8 years.
She is a member of the CAPPDT (Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers) and the APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers), and has attended seminars given by some of the world's most recognised pet trainers. With over 25 years' experience of owning, fostering, and looking after dogs, Norma is someone you can trust to care for your animal with the same love that you do.

We believe in positive reinforcement when it comes to your dog, which is why we choose to specialise in Clicker Training.
Clicker Training is based on the animal's natural instincts and is designed to help you communicate better with your pet. Research has shown that any creature is more likely to learn and repeat actions when they result in consequences which it desires and enjoys. The click tells the dog, "You just did something I like", and this is reinforced with a reward such as treats or play. You develop behaviour that your dog does voluntarily, with the knowledge that the behaviour will result in something good for them.
We also believe that allowing a maximum of 5 dogs per class means that your dog's training will be more enjoyable and show quicker results.
The Classes
Puppy Classes are for 8 to 19 weeks, with a maximum of 5 puppies in each class. The focus is:
- socialization with other puppies and people
- greeting people
- recall, play
- sit down, stand
- remain until released
- food taken gently
- chewing, biting, house training, dog language
Basic Classes for Adult Dogs are for 19 weeks +, with a maximum of 5 dogs per class. The focus is:
- dog language
- greeting people
- sit down, stand
- recall
- controlled play
- heeling
- manners
Intermediate Classes are also available for dogs who have taken the Basic Obedience class. Again, there are a maximum of 5 dogs per class, and these sessions offer a chance to work on issues pertinent to your dog. They also introduce the following concepts:
- longer sits and downs with more distractions and distance
- games to improve obedience
- target stick for tricks and obedience
Finally, private classes are available for owners with busier, less flexible schedules.
